New Adventures – d’Olde Lantschap, Wateren (Diever), The Netherlands July 3. 1979 FM

The band started off in 1979 and due to this gig (which was broadcasted live on FM by Vara radiostation for their program Vara’s Popkaravaan) they got more and more gigs and in 1980 they released their first album, produced by George Kooymans, guitar player with The Golden Earring.
They grew bigger and bigger and even played the Pinkpop Festival and Rockpalast in Germany.

They released loads of albums and singles and are still performing, these days, in the original line up again.

Line up:

Henk Torpedo (drums)

I recorded this concert on a crammy little Philips cassette recorder in 1979, glued to the radio as I was in those days.
It is in mono and the cheap (low noise) cassette had suffered a lot.

I have tried to boost the sound a bit and tried to deal with the many tape drop outs.
Still I like it.

A few years ago I gave a copy of this gig, through a friend, who plays as a stand-in bass player for the New Adventures, to Peter Bootsman, the singer.
He had completely forgotten about it and was very pleased to hear it again.
Some of the songs are still on the repertoire.

Well, I hope you like it and take the effort of downloading this stuff.

Sweet d’Buster playing live in Ommen, The Netherlands 1979

Sweet d’Buster playing live in Ommen, The Netherlands for VARA Radio, live broadcast for the program VARA’s Popkaravaan July 31. 1979

Sweet d’Buster were a Dutch band which performed from 1975 to 1981.
They were formed in 1975 by saxophone player Bertus Borgers, who had played with The Golden Earring on their USA tour that year.
After returning to The Netherlands he got offered a recording contract because of a demo tape he had made with members of The Golden Earring.
He recruited Herman Deinum on bass and Hans Lafaille on drums, both core members of legendary dutch blues band Cuby + The Blizzards. He also recruited Robert Jan Stips (Supersister and Golden Earring) on keyboards and Paul Smeenk on guitar.

In 1976 they released their debut album “Sweet d’Buster”.
In 1978 their second album “Friction “saw the daylight which even sold better than their first album, even though they had already gained a a great live reputation.
Borgers also was heavily involved with Dutch rock star Herman Brood, both live and in the studio.
He even supplied Brood a hit with his song “Still Believe”, originally on Sweet d’Buster’s 2nd album “Friction”.

After the third live album “Gigs”, Stips and Lafaille leave the band.
After a few member switches, drummer Pierre van der Linden (Brainbox, Focus, Flavium) and keyboards player Jons Pistoor join the band.

This torrent consists of a MONO version and a STEREO version.

The mono version was recorded by me, on a tiny philips monaural cassette recorder on a german C-60 cassette of unknown brand from my parents’FM radio, while watching the concert on television.
I put it through Audacity and after that used CD Wave Editor to split the wav file into tracks.
After that transferred it to FLAC 8

The STEREO version I plucked somewhere from the internet ( I can’t recall where)
It had an info file which stated :
—————–

Sweet d’Buster – VARA’s Popkaravaan 31-07-1979

Recording from the FM radio broadcast.
Cassetterecorder – WAV (Enhanced with MusicCleaning Lab) – FLAC

Sound quality is very good.

Sweet d’Buster is a underrated Dutch supergroup (with members who als played with Herman Brood, Focus, Earth & Fire and Cuby & the Blizzards) which played a funky style of rock music.

Line up
Bertus Borgers – sax

TC MATIC

Centrum 111 (De Sneeuwbal), Heemstede, The Netherlands December 11. 1982 FM

Recorded and broadcasted by KRO radio

For all you people who don’t know TC Matic, they were VERY famous in the Netherlands in the period when The Comsat Angels and The Sound stormed the dutch stages.
TC Matic must have played at almost every venue or indoor- and outdoor festival.
Led by singer Arno Hintjens, a great stuttering performer who stopped stuttering the moment he started singing either in English, Grench or Flemmish.
Guitar player Jean-Marie Aerts had his guitar plugged in to what I thought was to be some sort of spacelab.
Effects all over !
Serge Feys on keyboards, Ferre Baelen on bass and Rudy Cloet on drums.
They were a sort of exponent of what was, then, called “Eurorock”
They toured all over Europe and even in the States.

They even had a modest dance hit in the new wave discos with the 12 inch “Oh La La La” .I must have seen them a hundred times !
They were the best !

As the official site tells us …

Carter began in 1988, when the much acclaimed if commercially unsuccessful jangle pop band Jamie Wednesday disintegrated. The bands song-writing team, singer/guitarist Jimbob and guitarist Fruitbat found themselves with a charity show at the London Astoria to play and no one left to play with. So they recorded some backing tapes, played the show as a duo, and realised that this arrangement worked rather well.

Jimbob and Fruitbat decided that their new act should be one hell of a lot noisier and more confrontational than Jamie Wednesday had been, and a new name was needed to go with the new attitude. They chose Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine because….well, let’s just say that Fruitbat (real surname Carter) was leading an exciting and energetic social life at the time.

Here they are !!

World Domination Entreprises, Tegen Tonen Festival, Paradiso, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, May 29. 1987

World Domination Enterprises were a British independent rock band who were active in the 1980s. The band mixed elements of indie rock, industrial music, and dub.
Their sound was defined by their atonal guitar. They were best known for their cover version of LL Cool J’s “I Can’t Live Without My Radio”, and early single “Asbestos Lead Asbestos”, which was first performed by singer/guitarist Keith Dobson’s defunct band The 012.
The band was linked with the Mutoid Waste Company, and played at many of their events, as well as CND benefits. Much of the back catalogue is now deleted, though “Asbestos Lead Asbestos” can still be found on the Mute Records 2003 sampler Post Punk Vol. 1
Keith Dobson is also known as Kifkif Le Batteur, who played in English Psychedelic/progressive/space rock band “Here and Now” and, togeteher with Daevid Allen and Gilly Smyth in “Planet Gong”
Their myspace.com page tells us:
Consisting of three members: Founder Keith Dobson on guitar and vocals; Steve Jammo Jameson on bass and Digger Metters on drums, World Dom came into being on Guy Fawkes Day 1984, and played their last show in May 1990.
Grown up on the streets of Ladbroke Grove in West London. A manifestation of the hard, crazy and colourful life of the UK’s squatlands in Thatcher’s heyday.
WDE released only two albums, “Let’s Play Domination” in January 1988 and “Love from Lead City” (late 1988). “Let’s Play Domination” sustained a place in the top three of the UK Indie Charts and the band were featured on the covers of Melody Maker and NME.WDE preferred the short sharp napalm attack of the vinyl single and released five of these, one in each of the last five years of the 1980’s. “Asbestos Lead Asbestos” (1985); “Catalogue Clothes” (1986); “Hotsy Girl” (1987); “I Can’t Live Without My Radio” (1988); and “The Company News” (1989).

Rickie Lee Jones Live at Theatre Carré, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, September 3rd 1979.

Digging through my box of old tapes I stumbled into this recording.
A very good radio broadcast from her first promo tour.

Also known as bootleg “On Saturday Afternoons in 1979”
One song, “Something Cool” was later released on the cd release of Girl at Her Volcano (first released as a 10 inch EP)

In those days I had a little Philips MONO cassette recorder, I recorded a lot on.
Later I bought a Marantz which I used heavily.

But now, here is a another stereo recording, taken from two cassettes, which gave me the possibility to patch a fade in and out on the last track.
Track 06 Sentimental Journey is taken from my early seed and is in mono.

Setlist :

01 High Gear And Young Blood
02 Something Cool
03 Young Blood
04 The Last Chance Texaco
